Swansea City 0-1 Liverpool ! Match report
A fortuitous Jordan Henderson goal saw Liverpool claim a 1-0 victory over Swansea City and a massive three points in the race for a place in next season's Champions League.
The first half ended goalles, but both Brendan Rodgers's side and the hosts had chances to score through Daniel Sturridge and Gylfi Sigurdsson respectively.
But Henderson scored the only goal of the game in bizarre fashion, racing on to a Daniel Sturridge through ball which cannoned in over Lukasz Fabianski off the midfielder's shin as Jordi Amat attempted to clear.
Daniel Sturridge hit the post in stoppage time, but Henderson's goal proved enough for the visitors to claim all three points.
The result leaves Liverpool just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who travel to Anfield on Sunday March 22.
'Ibrahimovic can leave France' - Marine Le Pen
The 33-year-old sparked outrage for criticising the country on Saturday before later apologising for his remarks on social media
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been told to leave France by the nation's far right National Front leader Marine Le Pen.
Footage released by Canal + recorded him saying: “In 15 years I’ve never seen a [good] referee in this s*** country ... It doesn't even even deserve PSG.”
Le Pen responded with a firm statement in an interview with France Info radio on Monday: "Those who consider that France is a s*** country can leave it. It's as simple as that."
Ibrahimovic later apologised for his comments through a message communicated via his social networking sites: “Regarding my comments after tonight’s game; they were not against France or the French people. I spoke about football.
"I lost the game, I accept that but I can’t accept when the referee doesn’t follow the rules. It’s not the first time and I’m sick of it. My sincere apologies if anyone was offended or took it the wrong way.”
The former AC Milan and Barcelona star scored twice on Sunday but a late goal from Diego Rolan saw PSG beaten 3-2, with the striker angered by the referee failing to award a free-kick when the goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso picked up a back pass late in the game.
Ibrahimovic could yet face disciplinary charges for the outburst after the LFP stated it will discuss the incident at a meeting on Thursday.
Beating Arsenal wasn't luck - Jardim
Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim says their 3-1 win over Arsenal in February was purely down to the quality of his side rather than the Gunners underestimating the Ligue 1 club.
Goals from Dimitar Berbatov, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco sealed a shock win at the Emirates in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.
The two sides go head-to-head once again on Wednesday, with Monaco strong favourites to advance to the quarter-finals, and Jardim was again keen to talk up his team's result three weeks ago.
The Portuguese coach said on Tuesday: "We will approach this game like we did for all the other Champions League games this season. We will not think about the result, just to play.
"At this stage of the competition, all teams behave the same way. I do not think Arsenal underestimated us. It was us who played a great game in London."
That said, the former Sporting boss added that the game remains a hazardous one for his players.
"When we face a team like Arsenal with a wide range of great players we do not take it lightly. We must try to put our game up, like in the first match."
Dimitar Berbatov, who used to play for Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham, was praised for his performance at the Emirates and his coach admitted his experience marks him out as Monaco's key weapon.
Jardim said: "Berbatov is an important player for because he already played the Champions League. He has the maturity and experience."
Paris Saint-Germain's defeat of Chelsea last week means there could be two French clubs in the quarter-final draw and Jardim believes it shows the growing quality of Ligue 1.
"It's true that compared to previous years, the two French clubs have a good level. PSG showed the quality that has emerged France and at Monaco, too. We try to show the quality of work developed in France."
